Green Peas or Whiskey and Water or Built Out

Sometime I ask myself why I am doing this...the whole prospecting thing. I mean hell, life is good in Savannah. I have some great friends. Why not just hold the line? And that my friends, in the end, is the answer. Something I have never really been good at..."holding the line". :) I also wonder what happiness really is and why we lust for more. I can be in a sailboat, alone in the world, no one around and be happy as a Jaybird. And I feel that I can also be on a hillside picking away at an unknown treasure and be happy also. So the ironic part of this whole deal is that I am going to be searching the hills and mountains for a priceless crystal and yet at the same time I am happy where I am at in life. I have had a great life. I still admire all my wives. :) LOL Go figure. I still regret but don't despair about my mistakes. I just think life is great. And I am moving on in the process. After all there are only two things in life that are for sure, being born and dying. All the stuff between the slices is just what we put on it.

On a more important note.....news flash!!! I will soon be living life without refrigeration of any kind. That is such a sad and unfortunate thing. There aint nothing better than a CC and Coke on ice at the end of the day. I will miss that between trips to town. But on the flip side I will be loosing the whole coke thing. Shots and water...the new norm. Oh, don't even go there! I will be drinking and smoking till hell freezes over or some other calamity like crap happens. Get over it, I am. :) LMAO

So I got a little further along on the truck today. I am thinking that by the end of the day tomorrow the truck worx will be close as hell to being done. Then all I have is the tranny work and I be rolling. :) That's how we roll around here.

Cheers yawl, got to get a drink now.

The Morphing Begins

A the top of my list for my truck was a crew cab...didn't happen. A long wheel base was on the list....didn't happen. I also had planned roof top storage. But the storage grew to compensate for the lost space. Why do I need so much space? Because base camp will not be set up until I find a promising place to stay for a while. So I need to be able to be mobile and have sleeping space in the back of the truck. Before you ask/say, looks to me are as important as Obama in the Whitehouse........bottom of the list. Function is way up there. Getting closer to my new home.

Full Tilt Forward or "Red Emerald 1" (as in Air Force 1)

I just love the photos that this iPhone 5c does. I have not even had time to play with my Photoshop Express app yet but I think it has potential, the pay version is probably even more cool. Oh, well when I get time.

Meet Air Force........whoops......I mean "Red Emerald 1". I think she is going to be a good truck. I went through hell to find her. When I did I knew it was karma. She is going to put me on her names sake.
Don't let the photos fool you. She is a homely looking lady, but she puts a sparkle in my eye. :)
She does have a weak clutch so a preemptive strike has been ordered. Pulling her transfer case and transmission tomorrow.

I feel like I have drove 1000 miles the past three days and that may not be far off. Have rode the Greyhound to retrieve the little Nissan, which is now sold and gone. Sleep two hours last night. But I finally am getting the feeling of forward motion. I think I have found a camper shell. So hopefully the real construction of a real rock hound truck will start soon.

I have been growing my beard out to get ready for the mountains. I finally realized that I look like a homeless dude last night. Yep! Another case of profiling in the life of Butch.
I waltzed into the bus station in Savannah this morning at 1:30 am and had the guard yell at me when I walked thru the door..."Hey what do you want?" I stopped dead in my tracks and looked at him and said .."umm....ride the bus?!?!" I want bore you with the rest of the exchange, lets just say that he later came up to me and said.."...hey, we got to ask folks around here." I don't even remember my response. It was mild and meek. :) I painted the picture before it happened and was in no mood for bs.
They is some freaks yawll on them buses! Just saying. :) LOL

You might not believe it but I can't wait to dig my tools into the search. Crazy huh?

I Got Nothing

To Capt. Lamar I could say thanks for propping up a lost gypsy and showing him what sailing was all about. Better yet, for showing me what St. Patricks Day in Savannah is all about. There are many firsts spent with Capt. Lamar. The best was just taking me out and showing me what coastal water in Georgia is all about. That is Savannahs crowning jewel. And also Ms. Nancy's roasted oysters. The first time in my life I ever ate oysters...under the canopy of two of the greatest friends a person could ever want to have. Thanks yawl. :)

Or I could talk about the two Otters that have been mating underneath my dock area. Those two are so way cool. He parades and She chatters. Finally he gets fed up and just does her. There is major water action. Holly Cow!!!
Then all is quiet for a bit. I wonder if they are smoking cigarettes? :O

I took the awning down today for the last time. I washed her down for the last time. I started giving her the last cleaning. She is a beauty. Put the dingy in the water...for the last time. Smoking my last few cigarettes and drinking my last few drinks of whiskey on what has been such a fun and dependable friend. And of course I am also thinking of the mountains. Hell, lets just quit the bullshit. I got nothing.

I am so digging this new tent. In the front of the tent I will be able to have a table to work on. Clean my treasure, write notes, watch tv, or ......etc.
This is the bomb of tents. I am also going to have solar yard lights around the tent and on the trail out to the "pirvi" or hole in the ground.
I am going to have a dedicated battery to the tent with it's own charger for small "led" lights and a reading light over the table.
Mainly I would love life if I can just keep the friggin scorpions and spiders out. As for mountain lions, the only other animal almost equal on the food chain, we have a date in time. Looking forward to it. :)
I still have to buy my "cot". And my night stand for my ashtray and whiskey. And I may start a book...writing one. Got to think on that one. And yes I will be reading books. I am bringing three books, all about geology and rocks and minerals. This is "mission time".

Soon, within the next two weeks the great video seasoning that I have inserted into my blog is going to go away. It is a way of life to come. I am going to be in the mountains beating up on rocks. The dirt road that I get on in Utah to get to my new home is about 70 miles long and that is just to the foot of the mountain range. The blog will sit idle for long periods I'm thinking.
On a good note I am going to put together a program that will allow me to fast track my post to the blog. So when I get to town I can power blast the archives of "recent". :)
Hey, I'm looking out for my peeps. :)

Just Saying

The Thought

I just had a thought. In today’s world this can be applied across so many origination points.
The Thought:
There is only one creature on the face of the planet that you can continually, each and every day, shove your fist down it’s throat and feed it when and how you like, treat it like you like and that animal will bend down and take it.
That animal is man.
The only dumb animal on the planet.
And they call us the top of the food chain.
What were they thinking?

I Finally Put The Ring In The Bulls Nose

I have had this bull by the tail for about three months now. I’ve been swinging it around in my head and it has bucked every single attempt to tame it. Just when I think I have him weakening he kicks the crap out of me. Forty eight hours ago I got fed up with him and hog tied its hoofs and have been holding him to the ground. Finally this morning he weakened and I ringed the bastards nose. Hell Yeah !!!

Translation:
I knew months ago that I was setting myself up for failure. Just the thought that a half drunk sailor with a GED education could stumble around a mountain side a find a gem quality Red Emerald was ludicrous. I mean really, what the hell was I thinking? I could easily just haul ass to Colorado and dig around some very well-known spots and find some Aquamarine and make some bucks. Maybe decent bucks. That would be hard enough. But no, not me. I got the glitter of the Red Emerald in my eyes and it grabbed me and wouldn’t let go. Why play around? If your going to “do this damn thing”, do it right. Shoot for the stars! And any little meteorites I find on the way is just gravy on the big biscuit.
Well you can’t just stand out on the mountain, hold your finger up to see how the wind is blowing and head that way. You won’t have a snowballs chance in hell of success.
I know what rock I had to find. It is a special rock and it is only in a special place from a special time, 18-21 million years ago.
I stumbled across a geological report from a long time ago written by a very well known geologist that we will leave un-named. His report had a very simplified map that had no scale of size. Just very crude (to me) geological mumbo jumbo. I knew the area and I had larger maps but I just couldn’t over lay it on to current maps. It was literally kicking my butt because it was a hand drawn/typed map. It did however have a kilometer distance scale and partial USGS map grids with longitude and latitudes.
To make a long story short with the help of modern mapping technology I finally found a way to pinpoint the areas with specific coordinates. I had finally put the ring in the bull’s nose.
No, I don’t have a “treasure map”. But I have a map and “X” does mark the spot. It was the unraveling of the step by step hints that I finally had found. And my map does nothing more but give me professional guidance from a Geologist with a degree. I am tagging along, if you will, with the man as he mapped that “special rock”. It’s a very, very good place to start that takes away a lot of years of learning that I don’t have time for.
I feel like a kid in a candy store…or better yet, it’s toddy time.
Cheers yawl !

Get your guns boys !!!!

Yes kids, it is time to transition as you may see.
In the old days men dreamed of big fame, big money, dancing girls, and good whiskey. Nothing has changed. Not in the dream factory anyway. What has changed is the sophistication of the man. He still seeks that chunk of gold, that fiery diamond.
And then there are those like me that seek the things that are almost not retrievable. That rare object that all mankind is willing to pay a daughters ransom for…The Red Emerald. The allusive clear stone that is sometimes found along side of a brilliant red Topaz.
This is where this journey begins my friends.
Sold the boat. Yep. Now belongs to Pastor Bates, of Atlanta. He is in the company of great sailor friends. Among them any true sailor knows S2 Yachts are a faith based company that spares not one penny to build the perfect boat. That is a well know fact.
Fare well mon Captain Bates. I will without doubt, up in those mountains cuss you. “I could be there”…is what I will be thinking.
