"I've Seen Fire and I've Seen Rain".......

........."I've seen rain. I've seen sunny days that I thought would never end.
I've seen lonely times when I could not find a friend,
but I always thought that I'd see you baby, one more time again"

So I open the engine room compartment in Camelot. I have a laundry list of stuff to do on her. I need to install new lights in the engine room.....way overdue of course. The first thing I notice it the drip pan is full of diesel. Not good considering Capt. Marlay just cleaned that out and had it spiffy clean. And I had just helped the Captain bring the boat around to the fuel docks and fill the diesel tanks just three days earlier. Something was just not right. Almost instantly I spotted a drip off of a fuel line. Cool. This makes life easy. So I start tracing it back. So I take the cloth and wipe the line off in one direction. No difference. So I wipe the line off in the other direction. Big difference in the drip. Now I know it is coming from that direction. Then I say, hell yeah, it is just a loose nut.....NOT! Now I'm really scratching my head. Then I see a large amount of shinny liquid right in the bend of this metal line but not past it at the nut. What the fuck is up with that? So I wipe some more at that spot and instantly it is wet again. Holy Fuck!!! NO WAY. Yes Way. Their is a little hair line crack in the metal line. So it has a steady drip, but if I touch it the flow instantly multiplies to triple flow. So I have found the leak. The whole design of the line is fucked if your a sailor. Because you have to crawl around in that engine compartment. You lean on stuff, you crawl on stuff and under stuff in the engine compartment. You literally live and breath in that engine room. You become intimately familiar with all that is in there. So at some point maybe someone leaned on it......? Maybe it was just old....? Maybe I just walked on the boat at the right time? :) I vote yes for the later. Fire avoided? Maybe. Fire possible.....? Maybe. Mess possible......yep.
So the Captain comes down to the boat. And asks, with the faulty line in hand "where is the leak?" And I show him.

FIRE.

The Mercruiser, Alpha One, 350 Magnum is a unique beast on its own. This particular engine and tranny has a little switch that actually cuts power to the ignition each time you shift forward or reverse just for a split second. You don't even see it or hear it happen. It is that fast. It allows pressure on the "dogs" to lessen just long enough for a smooth shift in the gears. Yes, this was the project when it started RAINING.
Capt. Gary had it rain on his parade today. If you have never been inside a boat when shit hit the fans then you will never understand. But those that have dreamed about the "shit hitting the fan", well the shit hit the fan today. The Marisa sprung a leak just about the time that I was deep into the Mercruiser. The emergency diver was called in and lots of epoxy. Finally the leak subsided. Oh, I missed a part.....where I had to crawl down into the bilge and play in the water. Yep, you can figure that part out.

"May The Circle Be Unbroken"

So there I was, the year of our lord, 2002. Times were changing very fast. The whole world was changing fast. Sand monkeys had crawled out of the sand and made their way to America. In our ignorance we had been sleeping as they managed to use airplanes as bombs and attacked the U.S. The government was in panic mode and attempting to stop anything like that from happening again. In the process all rules of life itself were changing.
In Griffin, Ga. I had been sold a bill of good that turned out to be the biggest pile of crap that I had ever bought. Being in between electrical jobs I was looking for a change. Tired of one job finishing and seeking another was almost a yearly thing in the commercial electrical business. Then I saw this ad for Griffin Technical College. “Come to school today with us and be driving trucks in two months”, the ad promised. What was not being told to us suckers was that Uncle Sam was busy making sure that no vehicle of any type would ever be used as a bomb against its citizens again. Rules and laws were rolling down the pike at break neck speeds. And the trucking industry was one of the main targets of good ole Uncle Sam. Of course the people selling the truck driving course didn’t want to tell you that. They wanted flesh in the seats at the school and your money. Greed, as always, was the bottom line. So I finished the school. Excited about a new future I grinded into the books and the trucks and finished the top of my class. Made the “Dean’s List” for not missing one minute of class. The best driver in the class. I was on my way.
The class finished and I breezed thru the CDL test and had my license. Then came the job placement part of the course. Almost there………not.
All of a sudden and almost overnight anyone that had a criminal record, no matter what it was or how long ago was purposely being rejected by all companies by order of good ole Uncle Sam. And it got better. Almost all companies suddenly was requiring all new drivers to have at least two years’ experience as a way to keep the fucking sand monkeys from climbing into another potential bomb. Now you tell me, how the hell a student was supposed to overcome those obstacles straight out of school? Exactly! It was designed to be impossible.
In my desire to overcome the hurdles I took a couple of shitty driving jobs. The companies were of course dead end, shady companies with equipment that should have been smashed and on the way to smelters in China. Trucks that tend to kill people in crashes. None of those lasted long. Finally I gave up and spent many more years in the electrical trade, never once using that precious CDL license I had worked so hard to get. But on the flip side of the story I was proud of that damn worthless license. It did mean that you were “a professional driver” in every sense of the words. That’s what you had trained for……to be a professional on the road. For the slightest of infraction that license could be jerked away and never got back. Because of that pride that that CDL installs in most people I managed to hang onto it for thirteen years.
In an ironic twist of fate the same guy that first put me on a sailboat and let me have the helm. Yep, the same guy that taught me the basics of sailing and sparked the love of sailboats in me has once again set the stage for me to follow him again into the truck driving that I thought would forever allude me.
From high atop of the Rocky Mountains in Colorado I get word from Capt. Lamar that a very serious surgery was imminent and that I needed to get my assets back to Savannah, that there was a driving job that had my name on it. Having heard that before I can’t say that I was sold on the fact, but I was sold on the fact that it was time to come home to Savannah.
It has helped that I actually knew almost everyone in the company. And it has helped that Captain Lamar is one hell of a good salesman. So yesterday I was hired. All negatives have been ignored and the chance that I have always wanted has arrived. And today I once again have followed Capt. Lamar into a new segment in the ever changing life of Butch.
Wish me luck, it’s time to go to work at my new job.

The Point Of No Return or The New Face Of Colorado

So I guess it depends on how you look at it when it comes to picking the appropriate title for this post. It is the new face of Colorado and all the world knows. People are flocking here. Housing is booming. It is all way over priced. And congesting all phases of life here in Colorado. Soon it will be like the little town in California that has mandated free pot for the homeless. Really ?!?!
Or if you really look long term you may say that the point of no return has long past. After all, politicians all along the food chain have already spent the money and are now trying to figure ways to tax it more. Typical liberal "ass wipes". Tax, tax, tax, tax, fee, fee, and never free.

rock pick devider line.gif

This is a business card for a man here in Colorado Springs, Colorado that delivers pot to your house. Many varieties to choose from. Prompt Service. Quality Goods. Very reasonable prices. Is it legal? Hey, it's fucking Colorado. You figure it out. I just got a real kick out of the whole thing. What a wise guy. More power to him.

Cheers From Liberalville !!!!

Putting On Elvis or Flea Market Blues or Bringing In The Kids

So the flea market was quit the experience. "Theys a whole lotta a different folks at them there flea markets now...I'm just saying."
Not a lot of real interest in minerals with the folks that walk around at the market. I have to be completely honest, I had more interest from young kids.....sincere interest. Yes I sold some goods, not much but hey, it is what it is. But the kids. You can just see the spark in some of there eyes when they look / ogle over the rocks they have never seen before. So all day on Sunday any kid that actually showed that spark I purposely engaged them in conversation. Simple conversation like, "Do you like rocks". Inevitably they say Yeah!! And at a young age I also was a rock buff. So each time I found one today(Sunday), I would give them an Amazonite crystal or two, a Smokey Quartz Crystal or two, and a little fools gold. The really liked the gold. Then I would put it in a sample bag with the nice little geology label on it and write what was inside. I got to tell ya, the wow and thanks on their face made my weekend. Really. You have to foster dreams in the minds of kids. Make them think outside the box. It was a real joy. :)

rock pick devider line.gif

I did mention that I was living with two full blown fucking freaks didn't I ? Yep,.....yep. Over the edge kind of freaks like most folks in Colorado these days. I often find myself shaking my head in confusion when I am around them. Hey, they are like 20 flippin years younger than I. But, on the flip side it is good entertainment most of the time. And what is really funny is watching Scott try to keep up with me when I am hiking up the mountain to the dig or whatever. LMFAO......yeah, these young kids aint got shit on me.
So we are in the garage doing the Elvis style thing. LMFAO again. :)

This state sucks ass if you live in Denver or Colorado Springs, the two biggest cities in Colorado. The vomit that polluted the gutters in California got on the tires of cars coming to Colorado and it metastasized into people that want to call their selves native when in fact the only thing they are native of is vomit. And like the rest of America they have the Vomit Mainstream Media vomiting their message. Like today, some faggot as punk that likes to dress as a girl and probably suck wood, becomes the prom queen for a high school. Really ?!?!?!
This isn't America kids, this is Vomit. The scum of the earth.

Now pay attention kids. The following is an ad on Craigslist here in "The Springs". Remember all the wet back, illegal law breaking Mexicans that the liberals love here. And do the bloody math. How would you like to have that job? I didn't think so. Oh, and there is lots more. Visit Craigslist in Colorado or California or Chiago, or New fn York. Look at the future that is coming to your town, and I don't care how big or small that town is. Brace !!!!

"Will you please bring bcak your drivers liscense.......

.......Pretty Please, with salsa and chips on it, Please?" says the Colorado Motor Vehicle Dept.

How many of them are terrorist?

How many of them will vote illegally?

Oh wait.....this is Colorado, the dumb ass Obama voting liberals don't give a shit !!!!

And don't hold your breath waiting to hear about these licenses being returned.......you would die waiting.

Just Chillin or Flea Market Bum

So trying hard to transition back into civilization. The song of the mountains reigns silent and constant. I long to watch the animals scurrying around trying to get their house in order. Kind of the same crap going on here.

Tomorrow I take all of the minerals that represent my life over the past 6 or 7 months and lay them out on a table, exposed for all the world to see.
I only wonder if they really see? Could they really understand how much blood was spilled setting that beautiful Smokey Quartz Crystal on the table for sale? I think not.
What I do think is how much I wish I could stay up there on that mountain for a while.......not have to miss the elk in the winter. Life Calls.

Cheers Yawll !!!

I dug those rocks this year. I dug em good. One of the things that kept me going was every day when I turned on my computer. I saw smokey quartz and amazonite drawn in a little girls view of crystals. (yes I stole the photo). But the reason I looked at it all years was because I knew it was drawn by a young girl here in Colorado. I just cant find the the photo again to give here credit. But she inspired me. I just hope she does not turn out to be the bleeding heart liberal I fear she may become. After all, she lives in Colorado. I think soon the first letters of Cali-fornia may be incorporated into Colorado.......the drag queen that emerges will be Calirodo.
Brace!

Six Weeks at "The Wonderland Load Claim", Teller County, Lake George, Colorado

Ok kids, grab your favorite beverage or snack and sit back and watch all the combined video clips for the past six weeks at the Wonderland Claim in Teller County, Colorado.

rock pick devider line.gif

Chipmunks are a great source of entertainment in the mountains. Like all other animals they have some funny and unique habits. One thing that amazed me was the types of flowers and mushrooms they like to eat. Some of the mushrooms if ate by humans would not be good.

Rain, sleet or snow can come literally anytime in the mountains. While a pain in the ass and a work stopper, they are usually a lot of fun just to watch as they pass over. This storm really dumped on the camp. (click on photo for more rain photos)

All things considered it was a great six weeks up at the claim. The season is officially over for me. I will admit that I am somewhat disappointed with the years results. While I did find what I was looking for, Smokey Quartz, Amazonite and combinations of both, the quality was not as nice as I had hoped for. But this was the first year and like my buddy Scott keeps pounding in my head, I need to stay optimistic. And I am, next year will be better. I learned a whole lot of stuff this year that I did wrong and will be able to avoid those pitfalls next year and as a result not waste the precious valuable time that the Rockies allow you each year. Next year will be good.

(note: I am still working on the beautiful Smokey Quartz Crystals that came out of the "Wonderlust" pocket. Hope to post some photos and videos in the next couple of days.)
