A Little Trip Inside The Georgia Ports, Garden City Terminal

divider line arrows.png

So I finally got around to taking some pictures of the damage to the building/guest house that I was in during Hurricane Matthew. Man, I sweated this particular friggin tree all night. I thought it was going to cut the house in half because of the way it was leaning. There must have been one hell of a wind that took it the other way. :) I'm good with that. :)

Hurrican Matthew Batters The Undisclosed Location on Wilmington Island, Georgia

I rode out Hurricane Wilma when it raced across the state of Florida and came in Ft. Pierce's back door. It was frightening as hell to say the least. I told myself then that I would never do that again. So when Hurricane Matthew started its crawl up the east coast I didn't sense the true danger it was bringing. Don't ask me what I was thinking.
I was originally just going to park the truck and ride it out in my truck. Stupid? Yes !!
At the "Undisclosed Location" where a friend told me I could have out during the storm it was twice as bad as Wilma was. I really didn't think the poor little house was going to make it. As it turned out when hell walked on up the coast both of the houses on the property were spared major damage. There were at least seven major old growth oak trees that fell. Any one of which could have devastated either dwelling. One tree did catch the corner of the "Undisclosed Location" but just minor damage.
One day I will learn.......maybe. :)

Water was within six inches of coming into the house because of tidal surge:

Hurricane Matthew

Hey yawll. As you probably know the aftermath is upon us. We have no water, power, internet and almost no phone.
Coming soon is my personal account of the hurricane. I rode it out on Wilmington Island. Photos and videos and more. Just got to get past the current police state and other issues.
Stay Tuned

Daufuskie Island and Hopefully A New Job

I had already told myself before I returned to Savannah that I wasn't getting back into the sailboat business. I spent ten years in that lifestyle and I was over it. But yesterday a friend asked me if I wanted to ride with him over to Daufuskie Island, Ga. to pick up the band that had played there overnight and of course I said HELL YEAH. I was a nice diversion from the endless job applications over the past couple of weeks. Now I have to tell you that within 10 minutes of being on the water we past a beautiful sailboat that was just slowly moving along. It brought back of lot of nice memories for sure. Hell just being on the boat and on the water was cool as hell and long overdue.
But I got plans and it doesn't involve another sailboat. And anyone that knows me will tell you, once I get focused in I stick to the plan, strictly to the plan.

So I am about to go to an important job interview. I say important, they all are important, but I really want this job if the pay is right. It will keep me in Savannah and home daily, yet I will still be in a tractor trailer and putting experience on my CDL license. So wish me luck........here I go.

Men Don't Cry

Men do cry. They just do it alone.
Hell It don't take much for me these days.

Well of course we're not going to tell you.
It aint like the guys sit around and watch
"Lifetime" movies, at least not together.
Hey we/they got "reps". (reputation).

A woman gets most of them alone and any of
them have the teddy bear tenancies.
Big Papa Bear, Protect and love.

Unless your psycho, government educated,
Gay, fag, ............should I go on? No.

So men wise up. they get old.
They have already been the hunter/gatherer.
Now the little natives have grown.
Gone their own way.

Man now has a lot of time to reflect.
A lot of time. (Really? That's funny.)
So reflection revels years and years of life.
I did that! I went there! We had so much fun!
Yeah, all of that.

And I see all my mistakes along with all the happy memories.
Mixed in all of that are tears and a smile.

Hey! We came here crying, it is only appropriate that we leave with a few tears.
